Week 2 Round up (17, 18 September)

Week 2

First of all, apologies for no review on Round 1 of the Champions League & Europa League. It was a busy week. Had to take the car in for an MOT, had the kids first parents evening at school and been working all hours. Nightmare! Had a good Super Sunday in York, despite watching the Liverpool v Tottenham game in The Magnet, where they were streaming it illegaly. The commentary was in Norwegian, so they opted to play random (but admittedly classic) tunes throughout as an alternative.

I'm going to keep it very brief this week too. I've worked all day and just ran 5 miles, and to be honest, I can't be really be arsed, hence the poor formatting. Plus, AC Milan got beat, not that i'm biased or anything.

Cavani runs riot and bags a magnificent hat-trick against Milan. Juventus, Udinese & Cagliari maintain 100% starts. Inter continue to struggle.

*Game of the weekend*

Edinson Cavani bagged a hat-trick as Napoli comprehensively beat a makeshift Milan squad. Alberto Aquilani had put Milan ahead in the 12th minute with a great diving header, only for Cavani to equalise with a quality finish less than a minute later. Cavani extended Napoli's lead in the 36th minute, finishing a devastating counter-attack. Cavani had his hat-trick in less than an hour, scoring six muntes after the restart, sealing a deserved win for Napoli.

Awards:

Game of the weekend: A superb Napoli victory over AC inspired by Edinson Cavani, title contenders? On the evidence of their last 3 games, yes.

Goal of the weekend: Alessandro Matri's goal for Juventus against Siena. Great team-move involving 4 players, Mirko Vucinic showing some lovely flair to tee up Matri.

Player of the weekend: All plaudits go to Edinson Cavani, who scored three very good goals to get his hat-trick. 4 goals in two games for the Uruguayan. Napoli paid around 14 million pounds to acquire his services from Palermo, looks like a marvellous piece of business. This guy is looking like a world beater.

Flop of the weekend: Me. For being so lazy.
